Miesha Tate vs. Ronda Rousey 3: Tate Unwilling To Be Friends With Rousey, No Matter What Happens

Current UFC bantamweight champion Miesha "Cupcake" Tate is not willing to have a personal relationship with former champion and bitter rival Ronda Rousey.

After winning the title from Holly Holm at UFC 196 last March 5th, "Cupcake" is now being billed to have a third fight with "Rowdy", as previously stipulated by UFC president Dana White himself. However, no specific date has been set as of the moment, as it is all dependent on the completion of the Road House remake in which Rousey holds a starring role in.

There lies a deep history between Tate and Rousey. The two women first met in March 2012, in the now defunct Stirkeforce promotion company. Coming into the said fight, Tate was holding the Strikeforce Women's bantamweight title, only to lose it that night via first round armbar.

They met once again over a year later, this time at UFC 168. Rousey had just solidified herself as the new 135-pound queen of mixed martial arts after defending her title over Liz Carmouche at UFC 157 in February 2013.

Tate managed to prolong the contest this time around, bringing the fight to the third round. Unfortunately for her, she fell victim to the same submission hold. Prior to the said fight, however, the two women already coached against each other at the Ultimate Fighter Season 18.

In the series, Rousey and Tate's personal relationship also became more sour, with Rousey ending up snubbing Tate's handshake offer after their UFC 168 fight.

Almost three years after, it seems like nothing will change, as far as being friends go. In a report by FOX News, Tate says she will not be losing sleep over the fact that she will never be in good terms with Rousey.

"I just don't see it," Tate said. "I don't feel like I'm missing anything. Maybe some people feel bad, like, 'I wish they could be friends,' but I don't."

"I don't feel like there's some big hole that I'm missing in my life by not having Ronda be my best friend, so I'm OK with it," she added.
