Minecraft Story Mode Episode 5 Coming, Three More at Its Heels, All in 2016
Mojang's Owen Hill, who created the sandbox video game "Minecraft," announced on March 22 that episode five of "Minecraft Story Mode" will be available for download on March 29. He also confirmed that three more will follow at its heels and that all these are expected to be out this year.
Hill writes, "Episode 5 will not be the last you see of Jessie and the gang." Hill continues, "We can now confirm that three extra episodes will arrive some time in 2016."
This latest episode will find Jesse and the gang exploring an abandoned temple and are ambushed. Coming to, they all find themselves in another world where the ruler is said to be up to no good. The story develops from there.
"Oder Up," as episode five has been named, will soon be made available upon release on several platforms as PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC and Mac as well as on mobile for both Android and iOS.
Called "awe-inspiring" and "intriguing" by the developer, the episode sports a new location called Sky City which characters explore. Although not much has been announced regarding the episode, it has been reported that the voice of Sean Astin, popularly known as Sam Gamgee in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, will be featured in the upcoming release as Reginald.
Other voices featured are those of Catherine Taber and Patton Oswalt as Jesse, Paul Reubens of Pee-Wee Herman, and Melissa Hutchison who will be playing anew character.
Information on the next three episodes teased to come out also this year has not been released, but Hill has shared that the approach will be slightly different. Episodes so far available are episode one, "The Order of the Stone"; episode two, "Assembly Required"; episode three, 'The Last Place You Took"; and episode four, "A Block and a hard Place."
To upload episodes 6, 7, and 8, an older episodes must be downloaded first.
"Minecraft Story Mode" is presented in episodic adventures featuring a point-and-click story gameplay. It is rumored that three more seasons may be on the way too, but no official word has been issued by Mojang.
The work was released in October 2015 through a collaboration of Mojang AB and Telltale Games.
