Minnesota Vikings NFL 2015 News, Rumors: Adrian Peterson May Be Leaving Minnesota?

It looks like Adrian Peterson and the Minnesota Vikings are headed for an ugly divorce. Up until now the team was saying publically that it wanted Adrian to return once he is reinstated by the NFL due to his suspension for child abuse charges. Word has leaked out tin the last few months that Petersen was not fully committed to returning to the team.

Now after an ugly incident at the NFL Scouting Combine between Peterson's agent and a team executive the relationship may have soured to the point that a fresh start is needed by both.

According to Jason La Confora of CBS Sports, "According to the sources, Dogra engaged in a heated exchange with Vikings vice president of football operations Rob Brzezinski during which the agent made it clear that Peterson would never play there again. The incident took place during a time when outside parties were in the vicinity. Finally, former Tampa Bay general manager Mark Dominik intervened, separating the men and diffusing the escalating tension, sources said."

There are two main problems for the Vikings if indeed they have to trade their disgruntled star running back. The first and more important is that he cannot he apply to be reinstated until April 15th. He has taken his case to court and his agents and lawyers are working to get him reinstated as fast as they can but given the climate out there for these kinds of charges that is an uphill battle.

Secondly Peterson is owed $48 million over the next three years. That is a contact far outside of the current market for a RB.

In fact veteran RB's are far more devalued in the current NFL given the pass happy nature of the league and the new Concussion rules implemented. Some team would have to likely give up a highly valued draft pick and be willing to invest a lot of money in 29 year old running back.
