MLB Trade Rumors 2016: Diamondbacks Get Jean Segura from Brewers in Five-Player Trade
The Arizona Diamondbacks are already making the push to bolster their lineup, this time acquiring Jean Segura in a trade that gave five players new homes in the middle of the season. The former National League All-Star shortstop will be coming off a stint with the Milwaukee Brewers, which in turn will receive Chase Anderson, Aaron Hill, and a minor leaguer in Isan Diaz. The Diamondbacks also got pitcher Tyler Wagner.
After going just 79-83 in the recently concluded season, Arizona has been busy as of late to focus on building up the team, hoping for a better outcome for this new season. The D'backs signed two high-value players in Zack Greinke and Shelby Miller.
As one looks at the pattern of player and roster movements, it is pretty clear that Arizona is looking toward improving the team's offense. Although they let go of Ender Inciarte as part of the Miller acquisition, the team is still going to be formidable with the 25-year-old Segura aboard. It's a perfect combination for Arizona and Segura, considering that the team finished the season as the second best scoring club, while Segura had six home runs and 50 RBIs to go along with 25 stolen bases.

The highlight of Segura's career was in 2013 when he became an All-Star. He had a pretty impressive full season with the Brewers, but couldn't really sustain it after that season. Interestingly, there is some connection to him and the D'backs since he actually was one of the pieces in a trade between Milwaukee and Los Angeles for Greinke, who now is a member of the Diamondbacks.
In his career, Segura comes with a batting average of .266 with 96 steals.
As for the Brewers, the biggest fish they got out of this deal is the 28-year-old Anderson, who went 15-13 and with a 4.18 ERA for two years with Arizona.
