Mom Buys All Indecent Shirts at PacSun: Stop 'Displaying Pornography to Children'

A mom bought all the indecent shirts at a Utah PacSun to get all the lewd images off of the shelves Saturday. Judy Cox was shopping along with her son when she spotted the display in the store window that featured shirts with pictures of barely-dressed models on them.

Judy Cox was with her teenage son when she saw shirts at the University Mall in Orem, Utah. She requested that the manager take them down, but the request was denied. Cox saw the racy shirts as a symptom of some of the cultural problems in society.

"These shirts clearly cross a boundary that is continually being pushed on our children in images on the Internet, television and when our families shop in the mall," Cox said in an email to the Associated Press.

The mom saw an opportunity, though: she purchased the 19 $28 T-shirts for $567 total, including the ones on the display. However, she plans on returning them before the PacSun 60-day return limit so she can get the money back.

PacSun CEO Gary Schoenfeld said that the store's selection of t-shirts won't change.

"While customer feedback is important to us, we remain committed to the selection of brands and apparel available in our stores," he said in a statement.

While Cox won't be able to affect the policy of PacSun, she hopes she can affect community change in the long run.

"I hope my efforts will inspire others to speak up within their communities," Cox stated. "You don't have to purchase $600 worth of T-shirts, but you can express your concerns to business and corporations who promote the display of pornography to children."
