Move Over HTC One A9 – Here Comes The Bigger And Better HTC One X9

A new flagship smartphone by Taiwanese manufacturer HTC has been hinted at by a recent photo leak in China's Weibo website, according to a report in Digital Trends. The leaked photo showed promotional material for the HTC One X9 with the tagline: "Packed with city smarts," and featured a phone with a city skyline on its display. Among the phone's rumored specs are its faster processor and BoomSound speakers.

The coming of the HTC One X9 may likely mean a new and better phone is taking the place of the HTC One A9 as the flagship. If reports are true, the X9 will have Qualcomm's latest processor, the Snapdragon 820, which Qualcomm has yet to unveil but may be doing so soon.

The phone's display is expected to get one of the biggest improvements. While the A9's 5-inch screen only had a 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution, the X9 is said to sport a 5-inch 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution.

Its powerful processor is reportedly paired with 4 GB of RAM. A bigger capacity battery of 3,500 mAh will also be featured. HTC's trademark BoomSound speakers make their appearance in the X9. These speakers were remarkably absent in the A9.

The phone's cameras are rumored to be a 23-megapixel rear shooter with Sony's Exmor sensor and a 4-ultrapixel front shooter. It is not apparent from the leak what version of Android the device will have. Reading into the tagline: "Packed with city smarts," the report predicted that the phone will have NFC technology for mobile payment support and finger print recognition support.

As the photo leaked seemed to be promotional material for China, it is also possible, the report said, that the X9 will first see the light of day in China, with releases in other countries at a much later date.

One report in Neurogadget speculated that the device might be launched during the Mobile World Congress or the CES in early 2016.
