'Mr. Robot' Season 2 News: Creator and Executive Producer Sam Esmail May Direct Every Season 2 Episode

"Mr. Robot" has been renewed for a sophomore run, and the show's creator and executive producer, Sam Esmail, is said to direct each and every episode of it, which is considered quite a feat.

The drama-thriller television series only premiered last summer, but it won the ratings game among the other shows that premiered at the same time. "Mr. Robot" has been nominated to several awards, and even won the Breakthrough Series – Long Form category in the last Gotham Independent Film Awards.

According to Slash Film, Esmail is following the footsteps of other directors, like "The Knick's" Steven Soderbergh and "True Detective's" Cary Fukunaga, in directing every episode of "Mr. Robot" season 2. If this happens, Esmail may expect another set of awards for the series, since the show bagged several nominations at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, as well as the Golden Globe Awards.

With Esmail writing and directing the series, fans have recently expressed their expectations on the show's upcoming season. According to the website, fans are looking forward to see a darker and crazier season 2. "Esmail promises that the second season will 'get really dark,' which is a crazy claim considering how dark the first season already was. Elliot actor Rami Malek said that Esmail has already warned him that tackling the second season is 'gonna be tough,' something that he never said when making the first season," the website reads. Fans will just have to wait for the next season to see how the dark series can go much darker.

Variety was able to chat with Chris McCumber, USA Network's president, and said that they strive to create a better show since there are other great shows that are also worthy of recognition. "It's very hard to break through," he said. "We are really happy that people are seeing the same things that we see in a show that we love so much," McCumber added.

"Mr. Robot" has not yet released its official season 2 premiere date, but the website said that it is most likely to return on June 24 on USA Network.
