NBA News 2016: Celtics Jae Crowder Calls Out Wizards' Coach Wittman For Profanity; Larry Bird Not Satisfied With Pacers' Performance?
Boston Celtics forward Jae Crowder recently accused Washington Wizards head coach Randy Wittman for throwing profanity-laced remarks at him.
In a report by ESPN, the incident happened during the January 16 game between both teams, particularly at the final minute of the game. Crowder was slapped with a technical foul by referee Tony Brothers for arguing with someone from the sidelines while on the court.
For his part, Crowder argued that Wittman was the one who initiated the heated exchange.
"Tony said he didn't hear anything from Wittman," Crowder explained. "I'm not going to outburst on a coach and say something like that for no reason."
Wizards point guard John Wall shared his opinion, noting, "there was a lot of woofing" throughout the entire game between Crowder and some members of the Washington bench. Wittman was unable to air out his side of the story.
The Celtics did end up victorious with a score of 119-117, after Crowder sealed the deal with a final lay-up.
Meanwhile, former Boston Celtics superstar and current president of Indiana Pacers' basketball operations Larry Bird was previously not satisfied with how his team is performing.
Bird, who also held the head coaching duties for the Pacers from 1997 until 2000, held the executive post in 2013. In a report by Indystar, Bird expressed his uneasiness over the current situation of the Pacers, who were on a three-game losing streak before winning the January 19 game against the Phoenix Suns.
The team holds a 23-19 record so far and is now situated at the number five spot of the Eastern Conference standings. "I can't tell you what is best for us right now," Bird said.
"We've had success with the small lineup, but we've had success with two big guys in there. It's going to take a little bit more time, but I would like to have won more games up to this point."
The Pacers last played against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday where they won with a score of 97-94. They are slated to play against the Golden State Warriors next, on Friday, at the ORACLE Arena.
