NBA News 2016: Raptors' DeMarre Carroll Undergoes Surgery; LeBron James Ends Business Ties With Johnny Manziel
Toronto Raptors small forward DeMarre Carroll has undergone arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Wednesday.
In a report by Dan Devine for Yahoo! Sports, the 29-year-old professional basketball player went through the said procedure to correct the problem he has been dealing with for the past year. The Toronto Raptors management released a statement on the same day, stating that Dr. David Altchek did the procedure at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.
Carroll was forced to sit out the Raptors' Monday game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The report also states that according to Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey, Carroll's injury is "not a week to week thing" and that the wait for Carroll's return may take a while.
In another Sports Illustrated report by Deantae Prince, the entire Raptors team will now have to shoulder the burden left by Carroll's absence.
"Those responsibilities will be spread throughout the roster, with wings DeMar DeRozan and Terrence Ross likely taking on the lion's share of the burden," Prince wrote in the article.
For the current season, so far, Carroll is averaging 11.7 points per game, 4.8 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 0.2 blocks.
Meanwhile, Cleveland Cavaliers superstar forward LeBron James has ended his business relationship with Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel.
In a report by The New York Post, James decided to end his marketing agreement with Manziel mainly due to the latter's personal problems, which in turn, have greatly affected his behavior.
The report adds that Manziel was spotted partying in Las Vegas over the weekend, after missing the Browns' season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Browns lost with a score of 28-12.
In another report by ESPN, James has expressed more concern over Manziel's well-being, than their burned professional relationship.
"I think it's more concerned for him individually," the two-time NBA champion said.
