NBA Trade Rumors: Blake Griffin Headed Set to Join Denver Or Atlanta?
Los Angeles Clippers big man Blake Griffin might be headed for either the Atlanta Hawks or the Denver Nuggets.
In a report by Jack Windham for the Inquisitr, the 26-year-old professional basketball player may be traded for 29-year old power forward/center Al Horford.
Horford will be a free agent after the 2015-2016 regular season and the report adds that he has "readily admitted" to wanting to add more to his game, in preparation for his move to another team, if that's the case.
The report also noted that Horford wanted to be part of a team in a "bigger market," which the Clippers just happen to be.
"Horford would get much more of the spotlight in Los Angeles than he does in Atlanta. That's appealing to some players," an excerpt of Windham's report reads.
In another report by Joe Giglio for NJ.com, NBA columnist Mitch Lawrence announced through a tweet that the Clippers have been talking to the Nuggets management about a possible deal involving Griffin.
"While talking doesn't mean a trade will go down between the teams anytime soon, Griffin could be the new face of the franchise in Denver," Giglio said in his report.
However, another report by Ben Bolch for the Los Angeles Times claims that the Clippers are actually "reluctant" to deal their currently injured big man. Griffin broke his shooting hand after being involved in a physical altercation with equipment staffer Matias Testi in a restaurant in Toronto.
He is expected to be out for four to six weeks. The report adds that both Griffin and Testi will be "welcomed back to the team," but Griffin is still facing a yet to be determined sanction for what happened.
The Clippers selected Griffin as the first overall pick during the 2009 NBA Draft. Along the way, he has made five NBA All-Star appearances and has made the All-NBA Second Team a total of three times.
For the current season, Griffin has played in 30 games and is averaging 23.2 points, 8.7 rebounds, 0.6 blocks, and 5.0 assists, through 34.9 minutes of playing time per game.
