New York Knicks Trade Rumors 2016: Knicks Have Their Eyes On Kevin Durant, Mike Conley
The New York Knicks are looking to make major additions to their roster before the 2015-2016 NBA regular season comes to an end.
In a report by Morning News USA, the Knicks are highly interested in signing 2014 Most Valuable Player Kevin Durant, to play alongside Carmelo Anthony.
With the possibility of Durant signing with New York, it creates a scenario where he would be able to flourish alongside Anthony and one of the game's top prospects today, rookie big man Kristaps Porzingis. The report has noted that it is a scenario that New York Knicks president and former Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers head coach Phil Jackson is interested in.
"If the deal happens, this could be the best combination in the making. As Porzingis has shown his merit can lead the team in the playoffs," an excerpt of the report reads.
Durant has so far proven to be a vital cog in the Oklahoma City Thunder rotation, as he is currently averaging 26.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 1.0 steals, through 35.7 minutes of playing time per game.
He was recently named as one of the Kia Players of the Month for January, alongside teammate Russell Westbrook and Washington Wizards guard John Wall.
The Knicks are also reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Memphis Grizzlies guard Mike Conley. In a report by the New York Post, Conley, who was described as a "Derek Fisher-like point guard," still remains to be one of the top point guards on the current free agent list.
Head coach Derek Fisher himself showed interest in Conley, who like him, is a left-handed player from Arkansas.
The 28-year-old Conley, however, has been on the sidelines as of late, nursing an Achilles injury. In the current season, he has played 39 games so far and has averaged 15.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 0.3 blocks, through 31.5 minutes of playing time per game.
