Nick Jonas and Delta Goodrem Split Due to Busy Careers?
Singers Nick Jonas and Delta Goodrem recently confirmed that after 10 months of dating, they have decided to part ways.
"Nick and Delta have decided mutually to end their relationship. At this point in time, they are both focused on their careers as they go on different paths. They remain friends and wish each other the best for the future," Goodrem's manager said in a statement on Monday.
Goodrem, 27, and 19-year-old Jonas received widespread criticism about their 8-year age gap when they first began dating in May 2011.
Goodrem, an Australian pop singer, particularly stunned fans when she abruptly ended her 7-year relationship with former fiancé Brian Brian McFadden, and almost immediately began her relationship with Jonas.
Jonas, a member of the renowned pop group the "Jonas Brothers," was previously linked to Disney star Miley Cyrus between 2006 and 2007 prior to dating Goodrem.
While it is still unclear what prompted Goodrem and Jonas' breakup, some critics suspect that on-going criticisms about their relationship may have finally taken a toll. Sources close to the couple insist they were simply "on different paths."
Jonas is currently busy starring in the Broadway musical "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying," which opened in January.
Goodrem, who has sold at least five million albums worldwide, recently signed with Marc Jordan's Rebel One management company in New York City in a bid to boost her career.
"We had a meeting and we just hit it off right away - he's a great guy," Goodrem recently told Australian gossip page Confidential.
She also spoke about her upcoming fourth album which she believes has a "much different" sound to previous albums.
"I've had it finished for so long and I've been inviting people over to my house to listen to it so I can ask what they think. I just can't wait to get it out there," Goodrem said.
The inspiring cancer survivor is currently in Australia preparing for her role as a "coach" on the Australian version of "The Voice."
