Nintendo Rumored To Launch Nintendo NX Console In June
For a long time, Nintendo has wanted to regain its foothold in the gaming console industry after the failure of one of its consoles, the Wii U, to perform well in sales. According to a report in TechRadar, the company feels that introducing a new console called the Nintendo NX may just be their ticket to do this. Talk about Nintendo's next console has been going on for months and the console's release date is still unknown, until now. A post in a Barrons Asia Stock blog cited a Japanese analyst hinting at a June unveiling of the console and subsequent release in the market between October and November.
According to the Barrons report, Nomura Securities, through their analyst Junko Yamamura, said that Nintendo intends to have the Nintendo NX console ready before the 2016 holiday season. Yamamura said that the company will introduce "the concept" in March, unveil the device in June and release it in the market between October and November. She also predicts that the console will "boost operating profits" after a full year in the market and when it has a robust line-up of titles. The down side of the console's release, however, will be its impact on the sales of other Nintendo gaming systems, the 3DS and the Wii U.
A Tech Times report noted that this prediction of a June unveiling may be possible as this is the same month when the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is held.
Without any official word from Nintendo about the device's specs, only rumors are circulating as to what the next console will be like. According to the TechRadar report, the NX will feature a new control method which should be a great improvement from the hybrid controller/touchscreen controls on the Wii U. Nintendo's President Satoru Iwata described how the console will "incorporate a brand-new concept." The report speculates that the new console may possibly be a "console-portable hybrid." If Nintendo succeeds in doing this, it may give the Xbox One and the PS4 a run for their money.
