Nokia N1 Tablet Specs, Release Date: Company's First Android Slate Coming to Markets Outside China
Finnish manufacturer Nokia surprised the technology industry when it announced its first ever Android-powered tablet. Given the conditions of the Microsoft-Nokia deal, the phone manufacturer is not allowed to release any devices until the next couple of years.
However, the N1 Tablet is a special case because everything – from manufacturing, distribution, and even marketing – is handled by Foxconn. As a result, the Nokia N1 Tablet was available initially in China alone.
That might change in the next few weeks.
According to a report by Phone Arena, the Nokia N1 Tablet will begin selling outside of China soon. Its first stop is reportedly Taiwan.
The Finnish manufacturer has held a press launch in the Asian country just to launch its Android slate. In the report, the N1 Tablet costs 8,190 TWD or about $268.
For interested consumers who have missed the device's unveiling earlier this year, the Nokia N1 Tablet boasts a 7.9-inch display with 2048 x 1536 resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio, an Intel Atom Z3580 chipset, and 2GB of RAM. The Android-powered slate also packs a 64-bit enabled quad-core CPU clocked at 2.3GHz each, a 32GB internal storage, an 8MP primary camera and a 5MP front shooter.
Rounding up the specs is Nokia's very own Z Launcher, a 6.9mm thin frame, and a massive 5,300mAh battery.
While the launch is seen as Nokia's move to expand its tablet market in Asia, the company reportedly might not be expanding to Western markets soon.
