'Once Upon a Time' Cast News: 'Cinderella' Characters to be Introduced Next Season

ABC's fairy tale drama "Once Upon a Time" is going through a drastic change, main cast included, as the series heads towards its seventh season. Executive Producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis gave a heads up on the characters coming next season.

When the show returns, fans will be introduced to a new version of Cinderella, who will be Henry's wife and Lucy's mother. According to the executives, unlike the tale popularized by Disney, this princess is not looking for her prince.

"We see a single mother who is struggling to keep her family together, keep her life together and keep her head up against many obstacles," Kitsis said. " So she's finding herself once again being Cinderella to the world where she feels like she is constantly cleaning up her mess, but yet she can never get ahead."

Dania Ramirez has been cast to play Cinderella.

Just like the tale, the evil figure in Cinderella's life will be her stepmother, who in the show goes by the name of Lady Tremaine. This season's big bad despises Cinderella which according to Horowitz, is on a personal and painful level.

Gabrielle Anwar will play the evil stepmother.

This conniving family is not complete without the evil stepsister, Drizella. The execs say that she may appear evil, just as everyone expects from the step-sisters; however, there will be more to the story.

Kitsis teased that even Lady Tremaine's daughter has to take in her mother's abuses. He implied that it might get to the point in which she will refuse to be mistreated.

"Reign" star Adelaide Kane will play Drizella.

Another family character coming next season is from the "Alice from Wonderland" stories. The titular character herself will be an object of curiosity for the regulars, especially Rumplestiltskin.

"Once Upon a Time" premieres Friday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
