One Direction Permanent Breakup Rumor Not True
Avid fans of English-Irish pop boy band One Direction can do the happy dance now as reports say that the rumor about the group permanently breaking up is not true. According to Billboard, there is no truth to the online report that claimed the band will now go their separate ways for good.
On Wednesday, Us Weekly released an article about One Direction that made the fans head over to Twitter to get some clarifications. The report stated that a close source to the British boy band claimed that the members of the group, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, have decided to take a permanent break after announcing back in August that they will be in an extended hiatus beginning March. They told fans that they needed some time off after releasing five hit albums in five years.
The source also said that the foursome will no longer renew their recording contract once their tour ends in October. "The 1D thing just ran its course. They'll remain friends, but they are exhausted and want solo careers," says the close source to Us Weekly.
But as it turned out, the brouhaha was all for nothing as it was a false alarm. Fans will no longer have to fret now as several reports debunked the permanent split claim.
"There's no truth to this," a source told Entertainment Tonight. "[Their break] remains a hiatus with the intention of reuniting at some point."
This also means that nothing has changed with their hiatus plans and their return will be revealed in due time with the band members announcing the good news themselves. As of now, Horan, Payne, Styles and Tomlinson are just literally taking a break from the spotlight.
In November, Styles shared that he believes it's important for them to take a break. Horan even posted a tweet in December that he is "currently enjoying doing nothing."
As to when the boy band will be back together is still unknown. Fans can only cross their fingers that it won't be too long. Meanwhile, fans can grab a copy of their latest album "Made in the A.M." in stores and online.
