OnePlus 2 gets permanent price reduction in India
Fans of the OnePlus brand are in for a treat as the Chinese smartphone manufacturer announced that they have made the OnePlus 2 smartphone more accessible for purchase. According to a report by International Business Times, the flagship device has received a permanent price reduction in India. Both the 16 GB and 64 GB variants are now Rs 2000 (US$29.71) cheaper than the original price.
For those who are interested of getting one, the 16 GB model is now Rs, 20,999 from Rs. 22, 999 while the 64 GB is now priced at 22,999 from Rs. 24,999. OnePlus says that they the price cuts of the devices were necessary to appeal to a wider audience.
"Why have the price drop? Let's just say that thanks to both timing and scale, our operations have sized up sufficiently propelling us to offer our flagship offering as an even better proposition for your connectivity needs," OnePlus said in a statement.
But the reason for the slashing of the retail price may not be the only reason. As detailed in Gadgets 360, OnePlus is gearing up to release the next flagship device, the OnePlus 3. The company is planning to release it in the secnod quarter of 2016, between April and June.
As a refresher, GSM Arena detailed that the specs and features of the OnePlus 2 include a 5.5-inch LTPS IPS LCD display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and pixel density of 401 ppi. It is equipped under the hood with Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810, Quad-core 1.56 GHz Cortex-A53 & Quad-core 1.82 GHz Cortex-A57 and Adreno 430.
It runs with Android Lollipop and features a 13-megapixel primary camera and 5-megapixel secondary camera. The 16 GB variant has 3 GB of RAM while the 64 GB variant comes with 4 GB of RAM. It is powered with 3,300mAh battery and comes in Sandstone Black color.
