'OnePlus X' News: OnePlus CEO Hints At New Phone's Name, Maybe Unveiled On October 12

As the Chinese smartphone manufacturer gears up for a special event in India on October 12, OnePlus CEO Peter Lau recently posted a cryptic image on Chinese site Weibo which showed a map with what looked like an "X" in the middle. According to a report in Gadgets 360, this may be a hint as to the name of its upcoming device, the OnePlus X, which in previous reports is also known as the OnePlus Mini.

Rumors about OnePlus coming out with a mini variant of its mobile phone have spread these past few months, after it released its latest flagship, the OnePlus 2. According to these reports, the new device may come at a very attractive price of only $250 and is expected to be launched in November or December.

Earlier leaks reveal that the phone may have a MediaTek Helio X10 MT6795T processor under the hood paired with 2 GB of RAM. On-board storage will be at 32 GB. Its display is rumored to be a 5-inch IPS with 1,080 by 1,920 pixels or Full HD resolution, protected by Corning Glass 3 or 4. Its main rear camera is said to be a 13-megapixel one from Sony, which has f/2.0 aperture, can record 4K videos and has dual LED flash. Its front selfie camera is rumored to be a 5-megapixel one. Battery capacity will likely be at 3,000 or 3,100 mAh. Its fingerprint scanner will reportedly be located in the back panel.

The usual connectivity options will be made available on the device such as Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi and NFC. It will likely have the latest USB Type-C port as well.

Another report in TechnoBuffalo showed pictures of the device as revealed by FCC. The report noted how much the device looked like an iPhone 5 or even a OnePlus 2. It reportedly measures 5.5 x 2.2 x 0.27 inches, has support for both LTE and GSM and is equipped with a microSD connector. Processor speed is clocked at a maximum of 1.9 GHz.
