She also stated that they had difficulty dealing with the theme of the season. They began dealing with political agendas, in order to form the storyline of the series. Nevertheless, she explained that the season will bring some exciting new twists to the story.

Kohan also shared some details about the characters of the series. She explained that Piper Chapman, played by Taylor Schilling, will be going through some changes when the series returns. She hinted that she will become a less likable character in the upcoming return. This could be due to her new underground business that provides men with women inmates underwear.

Kohan added, "I think Piper's definitely on a journey. We work through the vicissitudes of likability."

Apart from Piper, several other characters are also expected to go through many changes. It was reported that the dynamics in the precinct will be changing, especially since there will be new characters in season 4.

"Orange Is the New Black" season 4 will be available on Netflix this June 17.
