'Outlander' Season 2 News: Fans Put Their Questions to Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan
Fans are just a couple of months away from getting their "Outlander" fix, but, nevertheless, Starz has graciously released a new Q&A video with the popular time travel series' stars that will surely whet viewers' appetites.
Caitriona Balfe, who plays World War II nurse Claire Randall on the show, and Sam Heughan, who plays Highland warrior Jamie Fraser, were recently in Los Angeles for the Golden Globe Awards. While in L.A., the two sat down for a question-and-answer session, in which they playfully responded to fans' Twitter queries.
Off the bat, the pair answered a question about why the horses on the "Outlander" set love Balfe more. Heughan, feigning bitterness, answered, "Because she feeds them mints all the time." "And not only her horse, but my horse," he went on. "So, blatantly, they're going to like her."
Next, a question on which of the two is more often late to the set. At this, Balfe and Heughan kept mum while teasingly pointing at each other.
"How do you deal with the weather in Scotland?," another fan from Twitter wanted to know.
"You don't deal. You endure," Balfe replied, just as her strong-willed character, Claire, would have. Heughan then added that the Scottish weather seemed to be following them around and added that it was raining hard in Los Angeles, where they were filming the Q&A session.
Another question, this one directed at Heughan, asked whether or not he will immediately cut off his hair, a la Kit Harington, once "Outlander" is done. "Yes!" he answered. "I would love to cut my hair."
"I think it's an integral part of Jamie," he explained. "It would be nice to play it in the show, maybe somehow, somewhere," he reluctantly added.
"Sounds like a touchy subject," Balfe teased.
"Maybe it will still come to pass," Heughan revealed. "But giving away too much," he admitted, before the pair moved on.
"Outlander" was nominated for three Golden Globe Awards this year.
The second season of "Outlander" premieres in April on Starz.
