'Outlander' Season 3 News, Spoilers, Updates: New Characters Join Season 3 To Find Love; Will Claire and Jaime's Love Withstand Time?

Claire (Caitrona Baife) and Jaime's (Sam Heughan) relationship has always been one constant throughout the "Outlander" series. But can that, too, be changed by the same thing that brought them together - time - when "Outlander" Season 3 returns to the screens next year?

What to expect

According to reports, "Outlander" Season 3 will be picking up from the events of last season. Claire had just reunited with her husband, Frank, and she's pregnant with Jaime's child. There's bound to be conflict between the couple as she deals with the fallout of their marriage, especially as Claire tries to readjust to her normal life in the 1950s.

However, that soon will change after Claire finds out that Jaime may have survived the bloody Battle of Culloden. It's certain that the two will reunite once more for "Outlander" Season 3, but as twenty years has passed since they saw each other, will their love and passion be any different?

According to International Business Times, Claire's main focus is to raise her daughter, Brianna. But it's worse for Jaime, who has lost contact with both Claire and his daughter for twenty years. In an interview with Variety, Sam Heughan stressed that "Outlander" Season 3 will concern itself with asking how Jaime really managed to live without Claire and his daughter.

New characters

"Outlander" Season 3 will also be seeing new faces when it returns to Starz. For one, Fergus, the pickpocket boy who looks up to Jaime as a fatherly figure, is all grown up now and wants to get past his mischievous ways. He will be portrayed by Cesar Domboy in the upcoming third installment of the time travelling series. He's described as devilishly handsome with an unusual sense of propriety and decorum, and wants to find true love, like his father figure Jaime did with Claire.

Meanwhile, Marsali, Laoghaire's (Nell Hudson) daughter, will be played by Lauren Lyle. She's described as high-spirited, rebellious, and a closet romantic. She also sounds like the exact opposite of Fergus, as she will do anything to get what she wants, "reputation and propriety be damned," according to TVLine. Will the two find their way into each other's arms on "Outlander" Season 3?

Will the books make it into the series?

Meanwhile, expect a lot of sea voyages and adventures on "Outlander" Season 3. Based on Diana Gabaldon's book, "Voyager," the season will explore the aftermath of the Jacobite uprising. Claire will return to the 1700s to meet with the very-much-alive Jaime, and together they will embark on a journey to Jamaica.

"Outlander" Season 3 will return 2017 on Starz.
