'Outlast 2' Release Date, News Details: Horror Game Set for an April Release
Red Barrels Studio confirms that the sequel to its 2013 survival-horror game "Outlast" will be released this April in both physical and digital formats.
"Outlast 2" is expected to arrive for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on April 25, and the price of the game is set at $30, according to a report from IGN.
Along with "Outlast 2's" release is "Outlast Trinity," which is a physical bundle edition containing both "Outlast" games along with a Whistleblower expansion from the first installment. The bundled edition is priced at $40 and will be made available for Xbox One and PS4 consoles.
Philippe Morin, co-founder of Red Barrels Studio, thanked their amazing fan base for the unwavering support. "Ever since we released Outlast in 2013, a physical version has been one of the top requests, so we're obviously thrilled to finally give people the entire series in one bundle of terror," he said, according to the same IGN report.
Set in Arizona, "Outlast 2" players will put themselves in the shoes of Blake Langermann, a cameraman and investigative journalist who is investigating the "impossible murder" case of a pregnant woman who is only known as Jane Doe.
Langermann is joined by his wife, Lyn, who is also an investigative journalist and they are bound to uncover horrible things, including profound corruption in the system. Together, the couple takes risks to uncover more stories and follow several trails of clues just to solve the mystery.
The first "Outlast" game also revolved around an investigative journalist named Miles Upshur, but his case involved an investigation of a psychiatric hospital called Mount Massive Asylum which is reportedly full of dangerous patients.
Although released in 2013, the PS4 version of the first "Outlast" installment came on Feb. 4, 2014. The game was received well, with an average rating of 80 over 100 from MetaCritic. The game also earned the "Most Likely to Make You Faint" title honor from the Electronic Entertainment Expo event in 2013.
