'Peaky Blinders' Season 4 News: Cillian Murphy Talks New Storyline, Show's Future

Tommy (Cillian Murphy) must bring the family back together when "Peaky Blinders" returns for season 4 soon.

In the upcoming installment, Tommy realizes that his family needs him now more than ever. Determined to save them, he decides to flee his home and summons the family to come back to Small Heath where they will be forced to fight for survival.

Murphy recently caught up with Deadline and he said loyal viewers may see some similarities between season 1 and the upcoming season 4. "These circumstances and the threat from outside mean the family has to regroup again and become good at what they were good at in series one," said the lead actor.

He added, "I think I do see as Tommy gets older in terms of his legacy and values and principals, if they were sort of atrophied within him, you can see them sort of beginning to stir."

Since season 3 wrapped up last year, many have been wondering if "Peaky Blinders" will go beyond season 4. Series creator Steven Knight previously confirmed that ending the drama after its fifth run had long been his plan.

Fortunately for fans, Knight revealed that it may no longer be the case due to the show's growing popularity. Murphy also mentioned he "wouldn't be surprised" if the BBC Two series went on for more seasons in the future. When asked if he has plans of leaving the show, the Irish actor said he would stay on board "as long as the writing stays as good as it is."

The U.K. premiere of "Peaky Blinders" is scheduled on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 9 p.m. local time on BBC Two. A U.S. release date has yet to be announced by Netflix, but it often follows once the U.K. run has officially wrapped up.
