Pebble Time Round Smartwatch to Be Released in the U.S. on Nov. 8
The new Pebble Time Round smartwatch will hit selected retail stores across the United States starting Nov. 8, the smartwatch maker Pebble has confirmed.
This Sunday, Pebble fans can start buying the new Pebble Time Round smartwatch for $249. The company's latest circular smartwatch looks more like an ordinary wristwatch and is lighter and thinner than its predecessors, according to NYC Today.
In terms of battery life, Pebble smartwatches hold a big advantage over its competitors because they last longer and require less charging. However, the latest unit has shorter battery backup and will only last two days versus seven days of the previous models, the report details.
Pebble Time Round has support for various third-party apps. Aside from that, it can be used to monitor appointment schedules, sports data, weather, and even the stock market. The device is available in silver, black, and rose gold variants. Users can choose between the 14-millimeter and 20-millimeter band size options of the product, eWeek reports.
The device boasts of a color e-paper display that notifies users of incoming messages, calls, and other alarms. The face of the watch has Corning Gorilla Glass protection to make scratch resistant, a stainless steel cahssis and bezel, touch buttons for option selection, and a built-in microphone that can be used to reply to messages. The water-resistant watch can also serve as music controller, the report adds.
All of the five smartwatches — Pebble, Pebble Steel, Pebble Time, Pebble Time Steel, and Pebble Time Round — use the company's homegrown Pebble OS. They are also compatible with iOS and Android smartphones, but only those running iOS 8 and above, and Android 4.0 and above, the report relays.
Pebble Time Round can be preordered online through Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, Pebble.com, and Target.com. Customers can also purchase the smartwatch directly from Target and Best Buy outlets across the United States beginning Nov. 8.
