'Penny Dreadful' Season 3 Spoilers: Patti LuPone Gets Regular Slot as Dr. Seward

After Patti LuPone's remarkable portrayal of Joan Clayton in the past season of "Penny Dreadful," she will be back on the show's upcoming third season. However, this time, since Joan Clayton already met her demise, LuPone will be portraying a different character as Vanessa Ives' (Eva Green) therapist named Dr. Seward.

According to the Venture Capital Post, the Tony award winner and Broadway star will be treating Vanessa, and the shrink is said to use an "unconventional new approach." Fans are curious on how Vanessa's therapy sessions will go with her unique therapist.

Meanwhile, Master Herald noted that there might be connections between the Broadway star's new character and Dracula. The website also said that the therapist might also be acquainted with Sir Malcom Murray (Timothy Dalto) before, as well as his dead daughter and Vanessa's friend, Mina (Olivia Llewellyn).

The third season will also have Wes Studi as another series regular, according to Variety. He is said to become Sir Malcom's new Native American ally, and will also share a deep connection with Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett). Studi is known for his roles in the films "A Million Ways to Die in the West" and "The Red Road."

Other guest stars in "Penny Dreadful" season 3 include Christian Camargo, Sam Barnett, and Jessica Barden. The next season is said to have nine episodes, and the third season premiere is going to be titled "The Day Tennyson Died," which was written by John Logan, who is also the show's executive producer. The third season will now have Dorian Gray (Reeve Carney) and Lily Frankenstein (Billie Piper) as the show's main villains, and the two plan to show the world what being evil is all about.

"Penny Dreadful" is scheduled to come back next year on Showtime.
