The list of performing acts for the 37th Annual GMA Music Awards was announced yesterday, with expected performances ranging stylistically from soulful gospel to guitar driven pop to powerful quartet harmonizing and more, according to John W. Styll, president of the Gospel Music Association (GMA).

“The heart of gospel music may be in the lyrics, but the soul is in the passion with which these artists perform, and I’m excited for another diverse and entertaining awards show,” said Styll. “No matter what artist or style of music that a person buys their ticket to come see, it is certain that the rock music fanatics will respond to the Southern gospel performance and the urban gospel fans will be moved by the convicting vocals of the singer-songwriter. For me, that’s what makes the Dove Awards a must-see event.”

Confirmed performers for the event include singer/songwriter Mark Schultz, gospel songstress Martha Munizzi, Lakewood church’s Israel & New Breed, hard rockers Kutless, the famed Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, and leading Dove Award nominee Chris Tomlin, who last year performed a worship medley of “Blessed Be Your Name” with fellow artists Matt Redman, Watermark, and David Crowder.

David Crowder will also be returning this year as a performer to do a special acoustic performance with Jeremy Camp, Mac Powell of Third Day, and Casting Crowns’ Mark Hall. Other returning acts include pop princess Natalie Grant and female rock trio Barlow Girl. Additionally, Kirk Franklin and Rebecca St. James, who were previously announced as hosts for this year’s ceremony, will perform during the show.

The 37th Annual GMA Music Awards will be presented at the Grand Ole Opry House on Apr. 5, and will be televised in national syndication starting on Easter weekend Apr. 15 through May 21.
