'Persona 5' Details Revealed, Includes New Setting and Characters

Fans of the upcoming role-playing video game "Persona 5" are already looking forward to playing the game. Fortunately, they are not left clueless before the release date as more details have been revealed. According to a report by Techno Buffalo, "Persona" Game Director Katsura Hashino has divulged further information through the March issue of "Persona Magazine" in Japan. In there, the video game designer talked about several information including the characters, setting, and more.

As noted in iDigital Times, the characters of the game include Ryuji Sakamoto, Morgana, Ann Takamaki, and Yusuke Kitagawa. The main characters are said to be usually labeled, judged, and miserable. But as players progress into the game, the characters will rise up and break out of such existence.

Ryuji is described as the one who will pull the protagonist along with him in the hopes of changing the world. Because of Ryuji's dragging, the protagonist will start off as a "phantom thief." Morgana, on the other hand, is the same with "Persona 4's" bear-type Teddie. Morgana takes the form of a black cat in the real world and takes on the duty of training the party as phantom thieves.

Ann is described as a quarter-American girl who has returned to Japan. She is a likable person but she has no real friends, leaving her feeling like in solitude. But once she becomes part of the party, she will be known as a mood-maker, someone who is able to spruce up any situation. Her persona is "Carmen" who is said to have a femme fatale side. The talented artist in the party is Yusuke, a fine arts scholarship student.

As for the setting, Hashino revealed that the dungeons in the game will be different from those in the previous titles. He did not detail much about the dungeons but he did mention that each dungeon will be enjoyable for the fans when they play the game.

Hashino also mentioned about the improvements made in the Social Link system, which is a portion of the game that helps the main protagonist move forward into the game and at the same time gain new abilities that will strengthen their bonds.

"Persona 5" will hit Japan sometime this summer.
