After announcing their retirement last August, Christian rock pioneer Petra is putting the period on their 33 years of music and ministry with the release of Farewell, a live-concert DVD featuring the groups once-in-a-lifetime reunion concert in Nashville last October.
The 65-minute DVD features the band performing favorites such as Test of Time, Creed and Judas Kiss with former Petra vocalist Greg X. Volz and keyboardist John Lawry making appearances during the set.
Petra is undoubtedly the founder of Christian rock, and we felt it was important to have Greg, John and Bob perform together on the same stage, said Inpop Records President Dale Bray. This DVD will be a true collectors item for the millions of Petra fans who have been impacted by the music over the past 30 years.
Also included on Farewell is behind the scenes footage from the concert, a special fan appreciation segment with the Petheads, an interview with Newsboys frontman Peter Furler who was in attendance at the show, and up-close-and-personal goodbyes from the band members.
Initially formed in 1972, Petra closes its career with over seven million CDs sold, four Grammy awards, 10 Dove Awards, and an induction into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
