Pininfarina Fittipaldi EF7 Vision Gran Turismo Release Date, Specs News: Lightweight Supercar Delivers Over 600 Horsepower

Legendary automobile racing driver Emerson Fittipaldi has collaborated with Italian car design firm Pininfarina and German engineering company HWA to create the Fittipaldi EF7 Vision Gran Turismo, a supercar that will be unveiled at the 87th Geneva International Motor Show on March 7.

"What was important to me in creating the EF7 is that the car not only provides pure passion and adrenaline but will also be forgiving and safe for drivers of all skill levels," said Fittipaldi.

To ensure that his vision becomes a reality, the EF7 Vision Gran Turismo features a carbon-fiber chassis that helps reduce the weight of the race car. The EF7 is said to be very lightweight at around 2,200 pounds. As a result, the vehicle is nimble and quick even on sharp corners.

A recently released teaser image previews the EF7's monococque carbon-fiber body.

The result of Pininfarina and Fittipaldi's collaboration will be a supercar that is powered by a normally aspirated V8 engine that delivers over 600 horsepower. The powertrain and the gearbox are said to be "Fittipaldi" single manufacturer-made. The EF7 also features a low design and position that gives the vehicle a unique center of gravity.

Fittipaldi revealed that the EF7 will be a dependable machine that will perform on the track and won't be bogged down by issues with the race car's mechanics and technologies.

"Owner-drivers can expect reliability, lower maintenance cost and minimal mechanic and tech teams — which means more time and elation on the track," he said.

The EF7 will be manufactured as a limited-edition supercar. However, car enthusiasts will have the chance to take the supercar on a test drive in the virtual world as the race car will be available Sony's video game franchise "Gran Turismo."

Meanwhile, Pininfarina will also debut a new luxury sedan concept called H600 at the annual auto show to be held at the Palexpo convention center in Geneva, Switzerland from March 9 to 19.
