Pizza Hut Manager Arrested for Spitting Into Officer's Food

A Pizza Hut manager is under arrest after spitting into a police officer's food. Amanda Engle of Tennessee was taken into custody for spitting into the officer's food in retaliation for a prior drunk driving arrest.

Unicoi County Sheriff's Department Deputy Frank Rogers went to the restaurant to pick up dinner and recognized Engle from the prior arrest. That's when, Rogers said, the incident occurred.

"The defendant didn't ask my name however rang up the order," Rogers wrote in the official police report. "As the defendant removed the pizza from the oven I observed her cut her eyes and look at me. The defendant then leaned over the pizza that she had begun to slice and I observed her spit on the pizza which had been purchased by me."

Rogers then asked if Engle knew who he was.

"Yes, you're Frank Rogers," Engle replied. Just one week prior to the spitting incident, Engle appeared in court and pleaded guilty in the DUI case involving Rogers. She was fined $350, sentenced to two days in jail and placed on probation for one year. Now, with this latest charge, she could spend more time in jail for violating probation.

Engle is currently free on $500 bond and will appear in court on February 20. She was promptly fired from her position at Pizza Hut for the incident.

Last month a former McDonald's worker with Hepatitis C pleaded no contest to spitting in a sandwich ordered by an officer in Virginia. Dalton Ursulean, the employee, claimed he had no idea of his disease and told the court his actions were "dumb and disgusting."

"He had no idea until the blood tests came back," defense lawyer Geoffrey Sparks told the court. "He was very alarmed when he found out about it."

Fortunately, the police officer tested negative for the disease. Ursulean was sentenced to at least 29 months behind bars for his actions.
