'Pokémon GO' Tips and Tricks Update 2017: Basic Guide to Evolution of Gen 1, Gen 2 Pokémon

Niantic's "Pokémon GO" recently incorporated second-generation Pokémon from the Johto region, which means there are now more options for evolution. However, choosing to evolve a Pokémon is not that simple as there are a number of things that must be considered when doing so.

First and foremost, it is important to assess a Pokémon's combat power (CP), especially since this factor is crucial when it comes to battling against another Pokémon. And so, if the Pokémon's CP is high, there is a big chance for a gamer to come out as the winner in a fight.

There are times when trainers would catch or hatch a Pokémon that possesses a high CP. However, there are also some Pokémon that require powering up and evolving to achieve a much higher CP.

According to Eurogamer, some of the Gen 2 Pokémon introduced in the game require special items before they can evolve. For example, Slowking and Politoed require King's Rock, while Bellossom and Sunflora need a Sun Stone. Other Pokémon such as Porygon2, Scizor, Kingdra and Steelix also require other special items.

Evolving a Pokémon can be done by using Candy, but doing so is particularly hard because a specific number and type of Candy is required for each of the Pokémon that gamers plan to evolve. On the other hand, Stardust can be utilized as a more general way of powering up a Pokémon.

In other news, Pokémon GO Hub recently confirmed that a scheduled nest migration has indeed occurred.

As of Wednesday, April 5, the 18th nest migration in the mobile video game has taken place, and this means avid catchers have two weeks to find what kind of migratory Pokémon are lurking and spawning around their area in order to track them down. This amount of time will give them the opportunity to fill up their Pokédex and gather strong attackers to add to their collection.

"Pokémon GO" is currently available on iOS and Android devices.
