Portia de Rossi 'Scandal' Role Has Fans Questioning What's in Store for Season 4
Portia de Rossi will be guest-starring on "Scandal" when it returns for a fourth season. De Rossi's partner, Ellen DeGeneres, made the announcement via Twitter, and news quickly spread.
"So annoying when people brag on twitter & that's why I'm not tweeting that Portia just signed on to do a top secret arc on 'Scandal.' Oops," DeGeneres tweeted to her 29.8 million followers.
"Entertainment Weekly" confirmed the news but had no news about her character or the role she will play on the immensely popular series. Of course, there is plenty of speculation as to the "top secret" storyline. Could it be that she will join Papa Pope's secret organization, B-613? He'll obviously need a replacement since his own replacement, Jake, left the country with Olivia. And he may need someone to do damage control after killing Harrison.
De Rossi is a seasoned actress perhaps best known for her role on "Arrested Development" as the ditzy Lindsey Bluth Funke. The show was cancelled after three seasons, but Netflix picked it up for at least one more season, bringing joy to fans of the cult classic. De Rossi also starred on "Ally McBeal" and "Nip/Tuck," which were both big hits. She gained a following after each of those appearances.
DeGeneres and de Rossi have recently been at the center of speculation. Rumors of their marriage being on the rocks and an impending divorce have been rampant. Neither has officially commented on the situation but instead they have presented a unified front. Whether or not they will eventually separate or divorce remains to be seen.
"Scandal," CBS' hit series will return in September, much to the delight of fans. There are plenty of ways that de Rossi could fit into the series created by Shonda Rhimes. "Scandal" is known for its twists and turns that leave fans on the edge of their seats. De Rossi's impending arrival could have serious repercussions for any and all characters on the series.
