Power Rangers Movie Updates: Bryan Cranston Likens Upcoming Film to 'Dark Knight' Series; Release Date, Cast and What to Expect

Power Rangers was a hit in the 1990's and every kid would know the names of each ranger then. The spandex-laced heroes were every teenager's idol.

The original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers had only three seasons and ended there. Though it remained for quite some time on TV, the popularity was not the same ever since the original series. However, this is about to change, because Power Rangers is coming back on the big screen.

Saban Entertainment and Lionsgate announced that there will be a new Power Rangers movie coming out next year. This new movie will be bigger than the previous two, those were the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie which was released in 1995 and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie which came out in 1997, two years after the original one.

Furthermore, the new Power Rangers movie will be an introduction to the new generation and nostalgic for the kids of the 90's.

What Is In Store For Us

Power Rangers Reboot is the latest franchise of the series and will be in theaters on March 24, 2017 year. Bryan Cranston will portray as Zordon in the upcoming film, in fact he likened the film to "Dark Knight" series. Cranston believes that the new Power Rangers franchise is different from the previous ones since it will have a fresh approach.

The new Power Rangers movie will not be the same as the previous ones. It will not be as childish as the ones in the 1990's. It has a totally different approach and a different style. In fact, director Dean Israelite stated that the new film does not re-imagine the original Power Rangers heroes.

"I read the script and was really surprised by it and thought there was a really cool, contemporary, mature but still playful, buoyant and fun take on the material, and was updated in a really interesting way," Israelite told IGN.

The film features Dacre Montgomery, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Naomi Scott and RJ Cyler as Angel Grove's finest, the film also stars Elizabeth Banks who plays the alien supervillain Rita Repulsa. The mix of talents creates a balance of a new and powerful film.
