'Pretty Little Liars' Season 6 News: EP Talks About Testing Relationships
Despite the new mystery presented in the second half of "Pretty Little Liars" season 6, fans are still wondering about Spencer and Caleb's new romance.
The new relationship between Caleb and Spender had fans surprised since the two were seen with different significant others in the previous seasons. After the revelation, fans took their complaints to social media, questioning the decision of the show's producers.
According to The Wrap, the executive producer of the series, Joseph Dougherty, opened up about their decision to bring Spencer and Caleb together. He explained that the couple was not formed to make viewers unhappy. He did ask fans to trust him in the decisions as it led to a better place for the characters in the episodes to come.
He explained that the time gap between the first half and second half of season 5 was to test out the relationships between the characters. He said," It was necessary, and now was the time with this gap, to take a look at what happens when those relationships became tested, and what happens when other attractions became visible. We wanted to see what would happen if we gave them those choices and if they acted on them."
However, he also explained that the girls are willing to stick together no matter what. He said that since they all went through some dangerous experiences, their bond remains strong. In a way, Aria, Spencer, Hanna, and Emily are already attached through their hardships.
With that, he explained that the series hopes to continue testing their relationship in order to see just how far they will go to protect each other. There is a possibility that fans will see the limit of their friendship once they are faced with more hardships.
