'Pretty Little Liars' Season 6B Release and Spoilers: Where Are The Liars 5 Years After? Season Returns January 12

Fans of the ABC Family drama series "Pretty Little Liars" are looking forward to the return of their favorite TV show, especially now that they know exactly when the girls of Rosewood are coming back to the small screen. At the recent Comic-Con in New York, the show's creator and its cast revealed that the second half of Season 6 will be premiering on January 12 on ABC Family, according to a report in Variety. Along with the announcement, they also gave a sneak peek of the first four minutes of mid-season premiere episode.

Aside from the season premiere, fans will also be treated to what they called a "flash-forward episode" on November 24, which will essentially show what has been happening off-screen during the five years that have supposedly passed between the first half of the season until now.

As revealed in earlier reports, the "Liars" will return no longer as girls in high school but as young women five years after the events that occurred at the end of season 6A. According to the Variety report, the show's creator, I. Marlene King, said that it was high time to "age up the show, make it a little edgier and more mature."

As shown in the sneak peek, Alison (played by Sasha Pieterse) is shown as a teacher – she is the only one who stayed in town. She is also the one who writes to all the girls in an apparent bid to bring them back together again.

Lucy Hale, who plays the character Aria, revealed during the Comic-Con panel that her character goes into publishing. She also seems to be still in touch, at least professionally, with her ex, Ezra, who is played by Ian Harding, as she is seen in the premiere staring at Ezra's face in what looks like a book cover.

Spencer (played by Troian Bellisario), on the other hand, is seen reading Alison's letter with the Capitol Building in the background. Bellisario confirmed that her character enters the political world in the coming half of the season.

Hanna who is played by Ashley Benson, is on a plane, riding business class. According to the report, she will be based in New York working in fashion. Emily, according to Shay Mitchell, will be the worst of the lot. In the premiere, she is shown serving drinks at a bar.

ABC describes the coming second half of the season as follows: "Picking up five years after we last saw the Liars, the girls are not the same people they were when they left Rosewood. Having pursued their own paths and adjusting to a life without 'A,' how will they be able to cope when something happens in Rosewood that forces them to go back to where it all started? Torn between their old habits and their new lives, the Liars must stick around, and together, as relationships are once again put to the test and new secrets are revealed."
