Freeform's "Pretty Little Liars" has notoriously earned the reputation of being one of the most convoluted series to air on television, what with its constant twists and surprises that always makes the viewers think nothing is ever certain. Thankfully, the agony over A will finally come to a close on "Pretty Little Liars" Season 7, which will also be the show's final season. But is it possible that the very person that caused this whole mess - Charlotte DiLaurentis (Vanessa Ray), who was found dead in Season 6 - is still alive?
What to expect
"Pretty Little Liars" Season 7 still has ten episodes up its sleeves to reveal the identity of A. Much of the previous seasons zeroed in on the Rosewood ladies (or Liars, pick your poison): Aria Montgomery (Lucy Hale), Spencer Hastings (Troian Belisario), Hanna Marin (Ashley Benson) and Emily Fields (Shay Mitchell), following the death of their leader, Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse). They then begin to receive threatening messages from a mysterious person named "A," and torments them with secrets that only Alison knew about.

Previously in Seasons 2 to 6, Charlotte DiLaurentis is revealed to be "A" as well as the Red Coat, after making friends with Mona Vanderwaal (Janel Parrish) and finding out all about the Liars. She was killed off in "Pretty Little Liars" in an apparent suicide - but was later on revealed to be a murder instead. But like most deaths in "Pretty Little Liars," is her death a permanent fixture, or is it yet another misdirect?
In an interview with US Weekly, Vanessa Ray talked about keeping up with the show even after she'd left. She teased fans might see her soon, and declared that she loved being around the show's cast and crew. Will Charlotte appear in a flashback, or will she inevitably turn out to be alive in "Pretty Little Liars" Season 7?
Who is 'A'?
But beyond that, fans are dying to find out who really is A, and hope to find the answer in "Pretty Little Liars" Season 7. A's identity has circled the mill, from Mona to Alison to Charlotte, and has even taken on a legion of minions calling themselves the "A-Team," consisting of Toby Cavanaugh and love interest Spencer (both were later on revealed to be double agents), Sara Harvey and Jenna Marshall.
It's likelier, though, that A.D. is someone the Liars know perfectly well. Even Vanessa Ray herself thinks it's none other than Aria, who's always been the person with the most to lose among the four Liars. It's been especially suspicious since Aria's file was taken from Mrs. DiLaurentis' lair during the previous season of "Pretty Little Liars."
Fans would have to wait and find out. "Pretty Little Liars" Season 7 will return on April 2017.
