'Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists' Spoilers: New Series Not Related to 'PLL,' Says Sasha Pieterse

Three-months after Freeform's "Pretty Little Liars" wrapped up its final run, the network confirmed they will be adapting another one of Sara Shepard's hit novels— "The Perfectionists."

"Pretty Little Liars" stars Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish will be reprising their roles as Alison DiLaurentis and Mona Vanderwaal, respectively, for the upcoming TV show. Although everyone hopes for "The Perfectionists" to be related to the hit series, it actually might not be the case.

Speaking to E! News Pieterse confirmed that the shows are not related in any way.

"Shepard who wrote PLL also wrote this book series," she said. "It has nothing to do with PLL, they're just kind of putting my character into it."

"It's still a murder mystery and it's a really interesting plotline," Pieterse said about the upcoming series. "I don't think I can say anything yet!"

"The Perfectionists" is set in the town of Beacon Heights, particularly in a top-tier college where everyone strives for perfection. This pressure to lead a seemingly perfect life brings about the town's first murder.

As of now, even the stars are in the dark about the series, as PLL executive producer Marlene King has kept most of the details from them. In an interview with Hollywood Life, Pieterse revealed that she has only read the pilot which she loved and is excited about.

When Pieterse was pressed for details about Alison's significant other, Emily Fields (Shay Mitchell), she said that the couple is doing great and that their babies are good.

To note, towards the end of "PLL" Emison was seen living together with their twin daughters, Lily and Grace.

Although the announcement was just made recently, Pieterse had already known for about a year that they will be working on a new project.

"Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists" has yet to receive a release date.
