Prince Harry and Emma Watson Dating? Actress Denies Rumors

Is Emma Watson dating a member of the royal family?

Rumors that the actress is dating Prince Harry sparked when Australian magazine Woman's Day claimed that Watson and Prince Harry had been going on secret dates. The magazine claims that the royal asked the "Harry Potter" star after hearing that she had broken up with previous boyfriend Matthew Janney in December last year.

The actress was said to have met the prince with a group of 12 friends and has been seeing him in secret since then.

"Harry didn't want her to feel like she was put on the spot. A party also shows he's fun and not stuffy," an alleged insider told Women's Day. "He's smitten—and it's more than Emma's looks."

The rumor immediately spawned a flurry of Harry Potter-related jokes on social media. One tweet said, "Emma Watson is dating Prince Harry! Despite JK Rowling's best efforts, Hermione is finally hooking up with Harry!"

Another one said, "I hope Prince Harry and Emma Watson last because if they have a son, it will be the half-blood prince."

But the actress and U.N. Goodwill Ambassador set the record straight by taking to Twitter on Sunday, Feb. 22. She tweeted, "World. Remember that little talk we had about not believing everything written in the media?"

Watson followed up her denial tweet with another pointed message.

"Also…marrying a Prince not a prerequisite for being a Princess." She also posted a link to Alfonso Cuaron's 1995 film "A Little Princess" which includes the line, "I am a princess. All girls are."

Prince Harry has not issued a comment about the dating rumors. A Clarence House spokeswoman told the Daily Mail, "Prince Harry's private life is private. We would not confirm or deny that."
