Project Tango Release Date: Android Smartphone with 3D-Sensing Camera Developed by 2 Big Companies
Google's Android operating system is still the most popular mobile operating system today, and yet the company continues to develop new devices, verge into new technologies, etc.
And now, it seems the search engine is already working on its Project Tango smartphone.
First mentioned at the beginning of the year, Project Tango is an Android-powered device that will feature some high-end specs, a cool and unique camera, and flagship status.
According to a recent report by GSM Arena, Google will be working with chipmaker Qualcomm in the development of the Project Tango smartphone. In the report, one of the key features of the device is its 3D-sensing camera.
Unlike 'ordinary' cameras, the Tango's camera has a sensor for RGB which computes color, a ToF Depth camera, and a motion-tracking camera. Together, these features make Project Tango a unique smartphone that could hit the market in the next few months.
In the report, Google is currently offering the Project Tango developer tablet for $512 at the Google Play Store.
Aside from Project Tango, Google is also working on other unique and first of a kind handsets such as the Project Ara smartphone. The Ara was first conceptualised as PhoneBloks but was acquired by Motorola.
Motorola then was bought by Lenovo from Google, but the search engine giant retained the project. Now we know it actually plans to sell it before the year ends.
