PS4 External Hard Drives, Best Deals: PS4 Owners Get to Choose Among Brands with Good Storage, Speed and Price

PlayStation 4's new firmware update that allows external hard drive support was very much welcomed by owners of the console - with some of them now looking for the best hard drive that their PS4 can work with.

PS4's 4.50 update allows players to expand their gaming storage directly through an external hard drive via a USB connection. This is more convenient than the previous method which required owners to open the console using a screwdriver just to replace its internal storage in order to upgrade it.

Now, PS4 console owners have a wide variety of options to go with, and replacing the internal storage the old way is still possible even when using a USB-plugged external hard drive at the same time.

The update is already available and players might want to consider the following reputable external hard drives available in the market today.

One of the most recommended is Toshiba's Canvio Connect which has a capacity of 2TB. It's Amazon price is currently at an all-time low for this year at $74. A 1TB variant is also available at $54.99 in Amazon. It is recommended for its small, slick size that perfectly matches the PS4.

If players want to go with another 2TB external hard drive, the Seagate Expansion Portable USB HDD is recommended, which is priced at only $68.25 in Amazon. A Seagate Backup Plus is also available with a huge 5TB storage size, and it is available for $160.

If a player is more concerned about loading speeds, then the Samsung SSD T3 is recommended. This particular external hard drive may be fast, but it comes with major drawbacks - it is more expensive (with an Amazon tag price of $169.99) and its storage capacity is only at 500 GB. 1TB and 2TB variants are also available but expect the price to go even higher.

For players looking for a reasonable additional amount of storage, but with relatively good loading speeds, HGST's Tuoro is recommended. With 1TB of storage, it is a high-performing external drive with a price tag of just $85 in Amazon. The hard drive has been tried and tested by many Xbox and Wii users in the past.
