'Quantico' Season 2 Release Date, Spoilers, Updates: Star Priyanka Chopra Wants to Become Female James Bond; Cast and Plot Details
Screw being a Bond girl, "Quantico" star Priyanka Chopra is eyeing something better: James Bond himself (or herself, depending on how these gender-bender roles go about). With her femme fatale looks, killer moves, and generous acting skills, we wonder, why not?
The desi star revealed in a Complex magazine interview that while she sees nothing wrong with a British white guy, she's exasperated with all the suggestions that she'd make a great Bond girl (she would). But Priyanka Chopra merely shrugged it off, saying "F*** that, I want to be Bond." Not a Jane Bond, either, but James Bond himself.
Why she wants to be James Bond
The "Quantico" star further made her case, saying if a woman can pull it off, then there's no reason it shouldn't be done. After all, Priyanka Chopra has pulled off the bad-ass role of FBI-turned-CIA agent Alex Parrish to critical acclaim, and is set to portray a bombshell villainess in Baywatch - a part originally meant for a man, she revealed.
As a desi star in Hollywood, Priyanka Chopra made it clear it's not just for the sake of promoting diversity in roles, but rather, making a huge win for women around the world. She also believes that, if she was to be chosen for the role, it should be not because she's an Indian, but because of her acting chops and her ability to "pull it off," to borrow her own words.
Currently, Idris Elba is being eyed to replace Daniel Craig, who played the last James Bond. But looks like the short list might get a little longer, as Priyanka Chopra isn't the first woman to express an interest in the international 007 agent, either. Actress Gillian Anderson (X-Files) had previously made the short list after sharing a fan-made poster of her in full James Bond mode, sans the tuxedo.
Quantico news and updates
Lest we forget, Priyanka Chopra is currently awaiting the Season 2 premiere of "Quantico" this Sept. 25. The new season will follow her new adventures in "The Farm," a mysterious training facility in the CIA, as she quickly finds herself in the middle of a global conspiracy plot that involves the POTUS and the First Lady.
It's been previously reported that Ryan Booth (Jake McLaughlin) might be joining her in this new phase of her life, alongside previous FBI buddies Raina and Nimah, Shelby and Miranda. The first episode will be titled, "Kudove," which is CIA shorthand for deputy director for operations, while the second episode is titled, "Lipstick." Both episodes' official synopsis hint at the early development of a terrorist plot that endangers everyone.
