Queen Latifah Denies Coming Out: Is Star Unreasonable Expecting Privacy?

Queen Latifah is known for being rather vocal and having a powerful voice, but when it comes to her sexuality, mum's the word. Latifah recently denied coming out of the closet after saying that she "was among her people" at a gay pride rally in Long Beach, California. Is it unreasonable for Latifah to expect complete privacy regarding her sexuality?

"Thank you to all my favorite peeps who came out to support me. I appreciate it. I love you so much. I hope you had a beautiful time," she told the crowds. Her words were enough to set tongues wagging yet again, as rumors surrounding Latifah's sexuality have circled the star for years.

Did she come out, though?

"That definitely wasn't the case," she told Entertainment Weekly. "I've never dealt with the question of my personal life in public. It's just not gonna happen."

Latifah has been famously guarded about her sexuality, in 2008 telling the New York Times, "I don't have a problem discussing the topic of somebody being gay, but I do have a problem discussing my personal life … I don't care if people think I'm gay or not. Assume whatever you want. You do it anyway."

She is not the first star to make such comments. Just last month, actress Raven Symone, famous for her childhood on the "Cosby Show," defended her right to privacy.

"My sexual orientation is mine, and the person I'm dating's to know. I'm not one for a public display of my life," she tweeted.

Whether Latifah and Symone are homosexual or not, they are bound to continue as stars in the entertainment industry. Fans have come out in support of both.

While some have stated that it's "no one's business" to know whether these two are gay or not, it's somewhat expected for a star to remain in the public and have some invasion of privacy.
