'Real Housewives' Expands Franchise to Dallas and Potomac In 2016
The Bravo network is adding two more "Real Housewives" shows to its popular reality TV franchise. It recently announced that they will be adding two more locations to the franchise, namely Potomac and Dallas. Calling them "two new lavish and picturesque locales," they will be premiering in 2016. According to Radar Online, "The Real Housewives of Potomac" will be gracing the network first, with a season premiere on January 17. "The Real Housewives of Dallas" has yet to get a premiere date.
"The Real Housewives of Potomac" will feature six housewives living in an affluent suburb in Potomac, Maryland. Located a stone's throw away from the U.S. capital, Potomac is home to six African-American women. The press release for the show said this about the show's setting: "Its rolling hills, gated mansions, sophisticated prep schools, and exclusive country clubs all serve to keep the area invitation-only. Sprinkled throughout this community are a handful of old-line, wealthy African-American families who have historically broken racial barriers to provide the best life possible for their children."
The network announced the names of the housewives as the following: Gizelle Bryant, Katie Rost, Karen Hugger, Charrisse Jackson-Jordan, Robyn Dixon and Ashley Darby. According to another report in Variety, the Potomac casting is almost akin to that of the successful and highly-rated "Real Housewives of Atlanta," which also featured mainly African-American housewives.

Also according to the Variety report, this will be Bravo's second try at a "Real Housewives" show in the Washington D.C. area, as their first attempt, "Real Housewives of D.C." only ran for one season.
The "Dallas" show on the other is still under development. No casting has been made yet but the show's description talks about a "Southern version" of the franchise featuring Southern socialites and their problems of the Southern kind. It is set to premiere later next year.
