'Real Housewives of New York' news, cast, spoilers: Heather Thomson calls it quits

Just when the latest season of the "Real Housewives of New York" (RHONY) got more interesting, one of the main bearers of drama this season finally had enough. Heather Thomson is leaving the show and she confirmed it with US Weekly.

The decision did not come easy for the 45-year-old housewife; however, she shares the reason behind her decision with the publication, saying, "When the opportunity came to do this show, I had this list of pros and cons. Three years in, the pros list is just gone. They don't exist anymore." Thomson not only has two kids to think of but also has two full-time jobs — being a mother and a businesswoman — on top of her RHONY commitment. This has proved too much to handle even for a strong woman like Thomson.

The businesswoman explained, "The long shooting days don't work for me anymore." She currently wants to put her efforts in running and expanding her brand, Yummie by Heather Thompson, while raising 10-year-old Jax and 8-year-old Ella Rae. When she told Andy Cohen, the executive producer, her situation, Cohen agreed with and understood her completely. Thomson said, "He knows I have a big business that needs my focus. He's proud of me and the job that I did on the show. He graciously complimented my integrity, who I am and who I've always been."

Another stressful factor that had pushed Thomson to finalize her decision was the tension brought by huge blowouts between her and her co-stars Bethenny, Dorinda, and Sonja. She admits that the drama is something that she is keen on leaving behind, as it is not like her at all. "The hurtfulness over someone else and at someone's expense — I don't do that. I'm the exact opposite."

Her bestfriend, Carole Radziwill, only has good words for Thomson in reference to her decision. "Heather is a very accomplished and honorable person." Radziwill continues, "She brought that and so much more to the show. She's an incredible mom and business woman, with or without the show. There is no doubt Heather will always do great things. While she won't be part of the show, she is still a part of my life, and for that I'm grateful. Holla!"
