Repeat Lessons
"I am the Lord, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?"
- Jeremiah 32:27
Have you ever forgotten God's goodness to you? Have you ever had to relearn something? Of course you have. We all have. That is why Peter told his readers, "I will always remind you about these things-even though you already know them and are standing firm in the truth you have been taught" (2 Peter 1:12).
Sometimes we need to learn, relearn, and then learn things a few more times.
Maybe there was a financial crisis when you were younger. You didn't know where you were going to get the money to pay your rent or car payment or put food on the table. But you trusted the Lord, and He came through for you. Then you worked hard and got a fine job and a regular paycheck. Everything went along great for 20 years. Then one day, the company you were working for had to downsize and let people go. Now you find yourself back to square one. All of a sudden, it is freak-out time.
But wait. Didn't God provide for you before?
"Yeah, but I was much younger, and it was less money."
So because it is more money, is it harder for God? Is anything too hard for Him? The answer is no. But we have to relearn that lesson. We need to trust the Lord again.
Or maybe you are very ill and know that a doctor can't resolve this problem for you. But then you ask your Christian friends to pray, and the Lord touches you and heals you. Fast-forward three years. Now you are sick again. Maybe it is even a little more serious than before. And all of a sudden, you go into a panic. But wait. God healed you before. Won't God do it again?
God will be faithful to you. But sometimes we need to relearn lessons again and again.
