'Resident Evil: Revelations 2' Scheduled for February 2015 Release, Not to Be Confused with Resident Evil 7
"Resident Evil: Revelations 2" is an upcoming title in the Resident Evil franchise and the second game in the new Revelations series. The game was first announced during Sony's pre-TGS 2014 conference Sept. 1 earlier this year.
It is scheduled for release early 2015 in Japan and on February in the United States for the Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
The release date however, has only been revealed as a placeholder by Capcom's Resident Evil Twitter account. The true date of release for the game is still unknown but it is likely to be in 2015. In the meantime, a pre-order DLC has also been revealed for the game.
Pre-orders are already available for the PS4 and will be made available for the PS3 soon. Pre-ordering the game will give players a multiplayer mode called "Raid Mode Throwback" and is basically a variation of the Raid Mode introduced in the first Revelations game.
Producer Michiteru Okabe explains that Raid Mode Throwback is a mode where one or two players would fight their way through maps from the single player campaign, with each map populated with different enemies. As previously mentioned, it works the same as the original Raid Mode only with maps from the first Revelation game.
"Resident Evil: Revelations 2" isn't to be confused as Resident Evil 7 however, as Okabe also explains. "I think the big numbered titles are where we try the big sort of experiments, bold new things," Okabe says.
"We see what sticks, and continue to refine those ideas. I think with the spin-off series we have the opportunity to do something a little different," he adds.
