'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' Release Date, Spoilers and Updates: New Trailer to Be Out Soon
Gear up, Star Wars fans: the next adventure in a galaxy far, far away is coming this Thursday.
In a television spot airing during the Rio Olympics 2016, it was revealed that a new trailer for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will be aired this Thursday, August 11--which means more of the Galactic Empire, stormtroopers, and X-wing fighting.
While no announcement has been released yet, a few managed to shoot the spot airing and posted it on social media.

The "Rogue One" is just one of the first of the spinoffs created by Disney to expand the George Lucas universe while fans await for the much-awaited Episode VIII of the original installment. In addition to a trilogy of Episode movies, the "Rogue One" is part of a series of stand-alone anthology films that will explore previously unknown arcs from the popular saga.
The new trailer is especially exciting as information on the spinoff's story arc is scarce. The official Star Wars account had tweeted in April, "A band of resistance fighters unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans in Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One #RogueOne," which is widely rumored to be the central plot of Gareth Edwards' film.
Fans would remember, of course, that this somewhat reflects the storyline of "Star Wars Ep. IV: A New Hope." In a Star Wars celebration in Anaheim, Edwards had confirmed that "Rogue One" will transpire between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.
In its first official trailer, fans have seen some brand-new characters, as is the case with The Theory of Everything Oscar-winning actress Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, the new saga heroine. The stellar cast also includes Diego Luna as Rebel Captain Cassian Andor, Jiang Wen as assassin Baze, Riz Ahmed as rebel soldier Bodhi and Donnie Yen as spiritual warrior Chirrut.
Meanwhile, Rogue One also brings back some familiar characters, such as Darth Vader, who is seen harrassing everyone who gets in his way, and Mon Monthma, who will be leading the Rebel Alliance.
Fans can expect "Star Wars: Rogue One" in theaters in December this year.
