Rose McGowan Slams A-Listers for Keeping Mum About Harvey Weinstein

When the New York Times broke the story about Oscar-winning producer Harvey Weinstein's sexual harassment allegations, actress Rose McGowan has stepped forward as one of his victims and has encouraged Hollywood stars to do the same.

While women such as Meryl Streep, Judi Dench, and Kate Winslet have condemned the producer, the same cannot be said about the men in Hollywood, especially those who have produced films for the company. Most of them have remained tight-lipped about the issue.

Though Ben Affleck recently released a statement about how saddened and angry he is to have worked with such a man, McGowan slammed his message, alleging the actor knew about it all this time.

It was in 2016 that the actress first hinted that a studio head had raped her. When it was revealed that Weinstein had been sexually harassing women for years, McGowan started to open up about her experience.

McGowan admitted that she opted not to file a report against Weinstein when a female criminal attorney discouraged her to do so, claiming that she will never win such a case. Her filming a sex scene for a movie would be why she would never win against Weinstein, the lawyer told her.

In the report done by the New York Times, they alleged that the studio head had been paying out settlements for years, and McGowan was one of them. The then-23-year-old actress reportedly received $100,000 in 1997. She, however, has yet to confirm the rumors about the settlement.

Apart from McGowan, Ashley Judd has come forward, citing one incident that happened about 20 years ago. She was supposedly going to meet Weinstein for a business meeting at the Peninsula Beverly Hills hotel, but when she got there, she was asked to proceed to his room. Wearing only a bathrobe, the studio head asked her to give him a massage or to watch him shower.

"How do I get out of the room as fast as possible without alienating Harvey Weinstein," Judd said, recalling the incident.

"Ladies of Hollywood, your silence is deafening," McGowan said in a tweet, encouraging other celebrities to condemn the lascivious acts.
