Salvation Army Kettle Drive to Officially Kick-off at Cowboys Thanksgiving Game
Destiny's Child will perform at the 8th Naitonal Kettle Kick Off during the half-time of the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Game.
The Salvation Army Kettle Drive will officially kick-off at the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving game to the half-time performance of Destinys Child, which will be broadcasted at 3:30 p.m. CST on FOX, announced the Army. It will be 8th National Kettle Kick Off since the event began in 1997.
Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child will two songs from their newest album Destiny Fulfilled. Music artists who have performed at past Kettle Kick-offs include Reba McEntire, Randy Travis, Clint Black, Jessica Simpson and Billy Gilman, Creed, LeAnn Rimes and Toby Keith.
As part of the drive, volunteers and workers from the Army ring bells while standing next to the organizations signature red kettles outside of shopping center and stores.
Local Salvation Army locations usually begin the Kettle Drive around the Thanksgiving season, collecting donations through Christian Eve.
All the donations from the Kettle Drive benefit local chapters, according to the Army, which has 9,000 centers of operation.
The Salvation Army collected nearly $9 million nationwide through last years holiday appeal. But that amount is expected to decrease this year since Target Corp. has refused to allow Army ringers to hold the drive in front of its stores. The Army estimates a loss of $10,000 for each store not allowing the kettles.
The organization is encouraging people to also donate via its online Kettle at 1800SALARMY.ORG or by calling 1- 800-SAL-ARMY.
