Samsung Galaxy A5 and A3 Release Date in US Coming Soon
Samsung has hit heavy snags in its sales figures the past few months, with the company reporting a 49-percent drop in net profits and 19-percent in sales drop compared to the same period last year. To fight disappointing sales, Samsung has made changes to its smartphone strategy for 2015, starting with the release of the Galaxy A line.
Two of the three variations of the Galaxy A line have already made its rounds in the U.S. and soon the rest of the world. The Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5 are both mid-range phones which Samsung plans to use in aiming the "young and trend-conscious customers."
"The Galaxy A5 and A3 offer a beautifully crafted full metal unibody, slim design, superior hardware and the best possible social media experience," said J.K. Shin, Samsung's CEO. "These devices make our advanced Galaxy experience even more accessible to [young and trend-conscious customers]."
The Samsung Galaxy A5 has a 5.0-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with a display resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Powering the phone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset with a quad-core 1.2GHz processor and an Adreno 306 GPU. It has 16GB of internal memory and 2GB RAM, as well as microSD card support of up to 64GB.
It also has a 13-megapixel rear facing camera and a 5-megapixel front facing camera and runs on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat and has 3G and 4G connectivity.
The phone has already been released in China, with the A5 and A3 coming soon to the U.S. and the rest of the world. The Galaxy A7 will arrive sometime later this year or early next year.
